The realization that more can be achieved faster when people are properly motivated also applies to learning situations. If you want to teach more than just the basic principles of fuel cell technology, the TekStakTM program is your ideal motivator.
The special feature of TekStakTM is that the fuel cell stack can be dismantled. Students build their own fuel cell and learn what is important in the design of a fuel cell stack. While experimenting they learn which parameters of the operation management are responsible for maximizing the efficiency of the fuel cell.
This represents on-hands learning at its best. In this way, you can arouse the ambition of your students to construct something of their own. This product line can be used to easily achieve miniature applications in the form of student projects such as model cars or charging stations. The cells are designed so that specific key parameters that affect the efficiency of such cells can be analyzed during the experiments. Due to the output and the stable design, the cells are easy to operate and can be dismantled and reassembled repeatedly.
Heliocentris offers three different versions of the fuel cell stacks; each version is available in two output categories (5 or 10 cells).
- Hydrogen fuel cell, air supply via fan, open cathode
3 W or 6 W version
- Hydrogen fuel cell, air supply via pump, closed cathode
6 W or 12 W version
- Methanol fuel cell, methanol supply via pump, air supply via pump, closed cathode
1.5 W or 3 W version
Each TekStakTM package contains pre-mounted stacks that can easily be dismantled, a setup and instruction manual (in English), in addition to a DVD in English that shows how to set up and operate stacks.
Areas of Application / Subject Areas
The TekStakTM is ideal for the application of basic knowledge of fuel cell technology in all scientific and technical subjects. The TekStakTM is suitable for both practicums and projects.

- TekStak™: Pre-mounted 5-cell or 10-cell fuel cell stack. Available as hydrogen fuel cell (with either open or closed cathode) or as a direct methanol fuel cell. Each set includes: plastic end panels, corresponding number of bipolar panels and membrane-electrode units, all necessary seals, connecting elements and connections, in addition to instruction manual (in English) with DVD and introduction video.
- Air Supply: Fan or air membrane pump for the oxygen supply, depending on the version of the fuel cell
- Methanol Supply: Methanol membrane pump for fuel supply with methanol-water mixture for the methanol fuel cell
